Derby University Buxton is one of the first Universities in the UK to offer a BA degree course in Martial Arts and a traditional Japanese Budo (martial arts and ways) Workshop was held on the campus in Buxton on 17 and 18 September 2011 in the magnificent Dome, so that students could see these Budo in action.
The University were so pleased with this event that they have asked us to arrange another one for next year and the date has been set for 17 and 18 March 2012 in the Dome.
Ten separate traditional Budo will be taught over this weekend and participants, instructors and teachers will once again be encouraged to gain some experience of other Budo, outside of their speciality, which they all did at the first event, much to their own enjoyment and that of the teachers and instructors themselves.
This event is open to all traditional Japanese Budo practitioners of all grades and styles and will be conducted in a spirit of goodwill and cooperation, so that everyone could benefit from the rich history and tradition of these ancient arts and Japanese culture.
Teachers and Instructors have been selected for their dedication, over a sustained and continuous period of time, who are currently active in their pursuit of their individual or collective Budo and who are recognised by their peers to have the skills relevant to their grade, title or status in the Budo community.
See below for thumbnails of the teachers and instructors at the 2011 event.
